  5. Effective & Efficient Functioning of the Institutional Bodies

    Raja Narendralal Khan Women’s College is a government-aided institution with autonomous status under the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal and is affiliated with Vidyasagar University.

    1. The Principal, as the head of the college, oversees both academic and administrative functions in collaboration with the Governing Body, Academic Council, IQAC, Teacher's Council (TC), and various administrative sub-committees.
    2. These committees, composed of faculty members, staff, and student representatives, oversee the college's academic and administrative operations.
    3. The IQAC and TC hold regular review meetings to ensure effective functioning.
    4. The Internal Complaints Committee and the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) operate independently to address concerns.
    5. Additionally, the college has dedicated cells for anti-ragging, SC, ST, OBC, and minority affairs, as well as a Disciplinary Committee and RTI cells.
    6. Departmental Heads or In-charges are responsible for monitoring departmental activities.
    7. The recruitment and appointment of permanent teaching and non-teaching staff are managed by the West Bengal Public Service Commission and the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal.
    8. All employees are subject to the West Bengal Service Rules and UGC as applicable.

Examination and Evaluation
  • There is continuous, comprehensive evaluation of students through continual internal assessment.
  • The Controller of Examinations provides a time table for the examinations in the beginning of the academic session after the academic calendar is approved by the Academic Council and published in the college website.
  • The COE also publishes results within one month of examinations held.
  • Redress methods of revaluation/verification are provided and online system has been generated for the same by the year 22-23.
  • The faculty members are involved in invigilation, paper setting, moderation and evaluation.
  • The NTS are involved in seat arrangements and other support services during the examinations.
  • The examination result tabulation is done by LMS in the online method
Research and Development
  • Two research centres, Natural and Applied Sciences as well as in Humanities and Social Sciences were established in 2018-19 under Ph. D. rules, regulations and guidelines of Vidyasagar University.
  • Senior faculty members have been appointed as the Director and Coordinator.
  • PhD Committees have been formed with eminent research scientists both internal and external who carries out the various activities.
  • As per UGC guidelines R& D cell has been established through which all the faculty research initiatives are monitored.
  • Many faculties are awarded with major and minor projects funded by UGC, DST, DBT, ICMR, DRDO and other funding agencies.
  • The college routinely organizes workshops/seminars/ conferences are.
  • More than 90 research scholars are registered for Ph.D. degree till the academic session 22-23.
  • Research scholars are selected through written test and interview.
