Examination and Evaluation policy

Rules & Regulations

w.e.f. 2023-2024 (NEP-2020) Academic Session

  1. For Sem-I: 7 Papers (Major-1 Paper, Minor-1 Paper,SEC-1 Paper, IDC-1 Paper, AEC-1 Paper, VAC-2 Papers).
  2. For Sem-II: 8 Papers (Major-1 Paper, Minor-1 Paper, SEC-1 Paper, IDC-1 Paper, AEC-1 Paper, VAC-2 Papers, Community Engagement-1 Paper).
  • a)Pass percentage for all subjects and papers is 35% (Theory + Practical + Int. Ass. + Attendance) with minimum 20% in the theory part and practical part separately.
  • b)For Full Practical Paper (having no theory component), Pass percentage is 35%.
  • c)SP (Semester Pass):  Awarded when passed in all papers.
  • SQ (Semester Qualified):  Awarded when passed in at least four subjects/papers including at least one Major or Minor subject/paper.
  • SR (Semester Repeat):  When:
  • (a)  failed in both Major and Minor papers;
  • (b) failed in five or more subjects/papers or absent in five or more subjects/papers.
  1. Pass Marks:

For 75 marks, pass mark is 26.

For 50 marks, pass mark is 17.

  1. Principal’s discretion for grace marks up to 2 Marks.
  2. All supplementary/arrearsubjects/papers must be cleared before taking admission in 7th Semester.
  3. Eligibility criteria to take the admission in 7th Semester (i. e. Honours with Research):  Minimum CGPA with 7.5/8.0 for B.A./B. Sc. students.
  4. The College offering the following courses under NEP-2020:
  1. One Year B.A./B.Sc. Certificate Programme.
  2. Two Years B.A./B.Sc. Diploma Programme.
  3. Three Years B.A./B.Sc. Degree Programme.
  4. Four Years B.A./B.Sc. Honours Programme.
  5. Four Years B.A./B.Sc. Honours with Research Programme.
  1. All the degree programmesmust be completed within seven academic years from the year of Registration.

  • Credit Point of a Course = Credit of the course × Grade point obtained in that particular course.
  • SGPA= Sum of the credit points obtained in a Semester  divided by the total credits of that Semester.
  • CGPA= Sum of the products of SGPA and the total credit in individual Semester divided by the total credits in all Semesters .

Where  indicates SGPA of th Semester and  indicates the total credits in that th Semester.

Examinations Advisory Committee:

All activities of the controller section to be monitored by the Examinations Advisory Committee. The composition of the said committee is as follows:

  3. Member Secretary, Academic Council
  4. Dy. Registrar
  5. Dy. Controllers

Examinations and Evaluation Policy

2018-2019 Academic Session

Two types of Evaluation:

i) Continuous Assessment

a) Assessment:  10 Marks

For Core Papers: Total two internal assessments to be completed for each core paper conducted by the concerned department. Finally average of two assessments to be awarded.

For Non-Core PapersOne internal assessment to be completed in each non-core paper conducted by a committee framed in the meeting of TC.

b)Attendance: 5 Marks

For attendance there are 5 marks and to be offered by the following conditions.

ii) Theoretical Examination:

a) For Non-Lab based subjects:Full Marks 60

Evaluation:

i)       After completion of theoretical examinations, the office of the controller of examination codes each answer scripts.

ii)    After coding the answer scripts, the office hands over the answer scripts to the concerned examiners.

iii)  After evaluation by the examiner, answer scripts along with award list to be deposited to the HoD of the concerned department.

iv)  The HOD will put the marks as per award list in the system for tabulation.

v)    After entry of the marks and confirmed by the HoD, Level 1, an Assistant CoE, will verify and check the marks with examiner’s part of award list and printed part of the system generated award list (taken print after marks entry).

vi)  After checking and verifying the marks, Level 1 will confirm the marks and to be sent to Level 2 verifier.

vii)           After confirmation by the verifier at Level 2, tabulation of marks to be completed. Then the result is ready to publish.

viii)         If any student is not satisfied with her result, she can move for Review or RTI system for reevaluation.

ix)  Pass percentage is 35%.

x)    SP (Semester Pass):  Awarded when passed in all papers.

SQ (Semester Qualified):  Awarded when passed in 3 papers including core papers(3 Core papers)and non-core papers (SEC-1,GE).

SR (Semester Repeat):  Awarded when failed in 4 or more papers including core papers and non-core papers or if failed in all papers or if absent in all theory papers.

SP (Semester Pass):  Awarded when passed in all papers and having SP in

all previous semesters.

i)       To clear the Supplementary/Arrear papers, at most three chances are allowed in the total duration of 6 semesters.

ii)    Special Exam. in Sem-V &Sem-VI, after one month from date of publication of result.

iii)  Lower bound of pass marks:

For 75 marks, pass mark = 35% of 75 = 26.25 - it is considered as 26.

For 50 marks, pass mark = 35%50 of = 17.50 - it is considered as 17.
