The Rabindranagar Campus is exclusively for NSOU administrative activities. BuildingTotal built up area of the college is about 31209.11sq.m.with blocks – Administrative Building (Gope Palace) includes main Principal’s chamber, Main office and Music Department at the back side of the building. Pure science block (having departments like Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Geography), Bio-science block (includes Zoology, Botany and Physiology), Bio Science Block (Annex) (includes Microbiology and Nutrition), Arts Block UG (includes English, Hindi, History, Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, Education, Human Rights, NSS, NCC ) Arts Block PG (includes Bengali and Sanskrit). Smart Classrooms:Almost all the departments of the college have the facility of Smart Class room. In total, the college has more than 20 smart class rooms with the facility of LCD Projector, smart interactive board etc. Additionally, the college has approximately 25 LCD Projectors and 250 computers with application soft-wares like MS-Office and statistical packages including latest versions of SPSS, MatLab,Originetc. Laboratories (Computer Lab, Language Lab, Departmental Laboratories )In total the college has about 36 laboratories including pure science, bio-science and geography. All the laboratories are well equipped with modern sophisticated instruments and software. E-learning facilities:One e-learning Laboratory has been set up besides the Central Library. There are twenty computers for the use of students for Hands-on computer classes. Museum and Galleries (History Museum, Folk Museum, Mathematical Gallery, Gurukul, CD Gallery)Basement Museum:The administrative block of the college has its owngr and euras it is working in the Royal Palace of the Narajole Royal Dynasty. Narajole Royal Dynasty played important and active role in Indian Freedom Movement. Many great Indian leaders had direct connection with the royal members of the family. The Palace has an underground which is now used as Museum. It was for medin the year 2012 at the corner of the basement of palace/ College office of Raja N.L.Khan Women's College with the financial help of Rs. 50000/-from the UGC-CPE fund. The things which have been kept in the Museum are of different types. Most of the things are related to Raja of Narajole. Besides this, replica of sculptures bought from the Indian Museum, Kolkata are also displayed in the underground. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose put their holy footsteps in this Palace. Heritage Commission of West Bengal declared this Palace as 'Heritage Building'. Museum of the department of HistoryThis his torical museum is maintained by the Department of History, on “The Role of Midnaporein Indian Freedom Movement”. This Museum has been formed in the year 2008 to exhibit the role of Midnapore in the Indian freedom movement. In this museum, there are thirteen sculptures depicting the important milestones of the role of Midnapore in the Indian freedom movement. Again numerous rare photographs of Women who participated in this movement with their biography are also displayed here. Mathematics GalleryMathematical gallery has been set up in the Department of Mathematics. An innovativeteaching aid has been initiated. It creates a unique learning experience. Folk MuseumFolk Museum has been setup in 2014 by the active initiation of Bengali Department with financial assistance from college authority. Various Folk artifacts have been collected from indigenous Folk-artist sand displayed in the Museum. It helps to make the students aware of the traditional value of this locality. Apart from our student send teachers, common visitors are also all owe din specificdat eand time. GurukulGurukul of Sanskrit department is a combination of traditional as well as modern education system of India. It remembers our ancient learning system of India. Here the students sit at the feet of the teachers and receive education. There are some ancient manuscripts, instruments for vedic rituals, LCD projector etc. For the enhancement of knowledge of the students. CD GalleryDept. of Political Science maintains a CD Gallery. It contains a wide variety of CDs on different topics e.g. Freedom movement, Oscar wining films etc. Seminar Hall (Rabindra Neer)Rabindraneer, the seminar hall which was inaugurated in 1997, has been renovated and remodeled. And it has become a well decorated and centrally air - conditioned seminar hall with a very large seating capacity. Language LabThe inhibitions that the student faces while communicating their ideas or views in English needed to be overcome by them and with this pursuit to enable them to overcome this inhibition and give them exposure to express themselves in English, The Department of English has been running a course in Communication and soft skills in the Language Laboratory since 2014. It is at present having a capacity of twelve at a time but from the current session the capacity is going to be extended to eighty students at a time. Hesoft-wares that are used to enhance the skills of reading, writing. Listening and speaking in students are CACM, ISIL, iTELL, PHONETISER, PRAAT, FLUENT U and so on. |
