About the Department
Nutrition Honours course has been started in our college since 2006, and Food Science and Nutrition course has been started in our college since 2019. All students of 1st batch (2006-2009) were secured 1st class with University rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Thenceforth, above 75 % students had been secured 1st class every year (13batches completed under graduate B. Sc. Nutrition Honours in 2021) with University rank holders.
At present Department of Nutrition is well nourished by Research and Development, Faculties have received UGC major and Minor Project, DRDO DIPAS project, recent WB-DST project Fellow Ms Deblina Giri Working in our research Laboratory, Holimakhatun working herPh.D research under the help of MANF-UGCFellowship,ShreyaMandal completed JRF under UGC major. In last Five years we have 44 international publications and our research laboratories are well equipped for the running research work. So, we are trying to search new horizon of Nutrition Research to develop both women’s research and for community.
Whereas, we are aware of the present scenario of India regarding the Health care & Nutrition, which is not up to the mark compared with the other first graded developed countries. Still now a large number of people are under the threat of malnutrition from a long time in our country. It is well known that this subject is very much important branch of Biological science as well as a diminutive part of Medical science also to lead the community into a better life style. So, being a large number of higher educated nutrition students can take responsibility to increase knowledge about proper nutrition from the existing recourses of our country and they would be a fighter against malnutrition and nutrition related diseases.
