About the DepartmentThe Department of Biotechnology in our college was established in July 2024, under the initiative of our beloved Principal Dr. Jayasree Laha and collaborative association of Physiology, Zoology, Microbiology and Botany faculties. The curriculum of the Department of Biotechnology is based on inter-disciplinary subject combinations following four years B.Sc (Hons) program under NEP 2020. Present student intake capacity is 30. We are developing modern infrastructural Biotech Lab facilities. We have a central library and a departmental seminar Library. The Department has Plan for conducting research project for the final 4th year students as per NEP guidelines. The Department is aiming to hire distinguished professors from the reputed institutes like IIT, Kharagpur, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, University of Calcutta, University of Burdwan as a guest lecturer for the purpose of teaching and motivating students for achieving remarkable success in various fields related to Biotechnology such as academia, R & D, medical sectors, industries etc. The department has already conducted its first Board of Studies (B.O.S) meeting in 11th June, 2024 for designing course curriculum of Biotechnology as per NEP guideline. The external committee members of the first B.O.S include well known academic persons such as eminent professors and scientists, industry persons from various leading institutions such as IITs, SINP, CU, BU & TCG Life Sciences (Chembiotech) etc |
